Affective Disorder Program

Central Florida Behavioral Hospital offers a unique program for adults with a primary affective disorder such as depression, bipolar and/or anxiety disorders. This program is based on the understanding that mental health requires a team approach with supportive and caring professionals who treat all patients with dignity and respect. We also believe that patient and family education is a major component towards patients’ optimizing stabilization.

The Affective Disorder treatment program promotes cognitive, social, physical, behavioral, and emotional development in individuals so that they can return to their daily lives as soon as possible. Our program focuses on interventions in a setting that is conducive to each patient’s individual needs.

Treatment components include:

  • Psychological evaluation

  • Medication management

  • Patient/family education

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy

  • Psychoeducational group therapy

  • Recreational therapy

  • Suicide prevention

  • Stress/anger management

  • Coping strategies

  • Problem solving

  • Communication skills

  • Mood charting

  • Discharge planning
